What it is for

On this screen you record the gas measurement taken in a space of the vessel (tank, hold, engine room and so on): oxygen, LEL, H2S and CO values, the gas tester who took the measurement, and the certificate’s validity window. BSU One compares the measurement with the safety limits in force that day; if it is outside the limits the certificate is recorded as Dangerous whatever the expert declared. Safe certificates are linked to hot work and confined space entry permits on the Shipyard Work Permits (PTW) screen.

A saved gas-free certificate is never changed or deleted because it is occupational health and safety evidence; to correct a mistake you enter a new measurement record.

Who uses it

Section titled “Who uses it”

The shipyard occupational health and safety (OHS) specialist, the gas tester and shipyard planning. On the Marine page of Settings › Roles: View sees the list and Add saves a new measurement.

Screens

Section titled “Screens”
  • Vessel filter (Gemi) and links at the top to the Work Permits screen.
  • New gas measurement: vessel, space, gas tester and the tester’s authorization document number; oxygen (%), LEL (%), H2S (ppm) and CO (ppm); the expert’s declaration (Safe for entry, Safe for hot work or Dangerous); validity start and end (UTC); and a box for a fixed gas monitoring detector in the space.
  • List: each certificate’s measurements, validity range, status and expert; an expired or not-yet-started safe certificate is flagged under its status badge.

Typical workflow

  1. Press New gas measurement and fill in the vessel, space and tester.
  2. Enter the four measurement values and choose the expert’s declaration.
  3. Enter the validity start and end and save. The message shows the resulting status: your declared status if the measurement is within limits, otherwise Dangerous.
